Hanging in the Wind on Stock Island, Key West, Florida. Things don’t always go as planned and when the boat starts taking on a bit of water, we don’t waste time. Time to haul out and do some repairs and we’re humbled by the kindness of the folks the Conch Republic.

Sailing Overnight from Fort Myers to Key West, Florida. It’s our first overnight passage and we’re ready! We thought. After waiting a bit longer for the comfort of everyone aboard, we set out to our new, sunny, warm destination.

Misadventures in Florida Sailing: When the Boat Bumps its Way to Anna Marie Island, Venice, and Boca Grande Pass. How do you know when you had a “close one” in a sailboat? You bump your way over a new shallow area but you don't stop! Whew! We loved this section of the Gulf Coast while having a friend visit. That said, we were ready to relax after feeling the ocean floor under Moon Dragon. So in contrast, we sail through the deepest pass on the Florida Gulf Coast!

Exploring St Pete Beach & Tampa Bay, FL, on a Sailboat. Up we go to pick up a friend, exploring new-to-us water in Tampa Bay and the St. Petersburg areas. Watch out for the container ships!

Florida Gulf Coast Sailing: Gasparilla, Cayo Costa, Charlotte Harbor, Egmont Key. Now it’s really starting to feel real! While this is a familiar sailing place for us, what’s different is that we’re not heading back to our home port for quite a while. The adventure officially begins after exiting our beaten path and we head into the sunset.

There are things to do before we go, but the comparison between RV living to sailing life is similar… right?
